Cambridge English has developed a programme of online teacher training courses aimed at primary and secondary level teachers working for national or regional Ministries of Education, or for language school chains.
The Cambridge English: Language for Teaching courses are designed to improve the skills of non-native English teachers already working in the classroom and give them the language they need to teach English with confidence. They develop both general English skills and professional language teachers use every day. The courses encourage teachers to progress to other teacher training qualifications offered by Cambridge English.
Andrew Nye, Assistant Director Stakeholders, at Cambridge English Language Assessment said:
‘English is now a huge priority for many national and regional governments and this has been the driving force behind the new courses. We’ve designed a practical way to raise English language teaching standards across school systems by enabling teachers to develop their English language skills and confidently use more English with their students. The courses support professional and personal development by developing the language skills needed inside and outside the classroom.’
The three courses are each made up of 120 hours of online study, with optional face-to-face material, and help teachers progress through levels A1 to A2, A2 to B1 and B1 to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – an internationally recognised framework of language ability.
