Temperatures are finally starting to drop to autumnal levels in Barcelona which means that the Exams Catalunya 5th Annual ELT Conference is just around the corner. This year’s event will take place on Saturday 18 November at ESADEFORUM in Barcelona under the title: Focus on the classroom: maximising teacher and learner interaction for genuine results.
As in past years we will be offering a mix of plenary talks and workshops as well as providing morning coffee and lunch. There will be opportunities aplenty to learn and share experiences with colleagues working in a range of different contexts in the sector. At last year’s conference we introduced a panel discussion, inviting audience participation, and we will be repeating this feature this year in response to your positive feedback.
Our idea for this year’s theme also emerged from feedback we have received in past years. Our aim is to focus on how teachers can make the most of classroom interaction to maximise learning opportunities for all. Talks and workshops will have direct relevance for busy EFL teachers offering practical advice and activities.
Our distinguished plenary speakers will all speak on different aspects of classroom interaction:
- Dr Evelina Galaczi, from the Research Department of Cambridge Assessment English plans to examine the impact of technology on communicative language teaching.
- Laura Patsko from Cambridge University Press will talk about the benefits of peer to peer interaction and peer generated content.
- Sally Farley will look at how we can create inclusive classrooms where all students feel empowered to participate, especially those with Special Educational Needs.
On the day of the conference you will be able to choose from 6 workshops offered in 3 timeslots – in this way you can personalise the conference experience and tailor it to your specific needs. Whether you teach Young Learners, exam preparation classes or general English to adults, you are sure to find workshops relevant to your situation. Our line-up of workshop presenters this year includes popular Exams Catalunya regulars Sarah Johnston and Graham Ward as well as other leading teacher trainers, materials writers, and inspirational presenters such as Anne Robinson, Jamie Keddie, Borja Uruñela and Daniel Barber, just to name a few!
All the details of the conference, including a simple to follow registration procedure, can be found on our dedicated conference webpage. We look forward to welcoming you later this month.
